Be on My Side is about friendship, love, fear, consciousness and hallucination. A sonic blip in time, so quick the listener wonders if they even heard the song at all. Guitars crunch in the peripheral while the singing haunts with funk fused verses from Bira, dripped in psychedelia. And there by the door are the drums rolling through your guts and out again- crunched candy thunder. Oh, it was wonder of wonders. And then, a bird of like rarest spun heavenmetal, or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now, came the bass above all, and that bass was like a cage of silk round my bed. Then voice and harmony binded, a flying fish in a platinum lake, into the thick thick toffee gold with a vocoded electric Forrest of synths guitars running away from the depths of delay. I was in such bliss, my brother.
This is the first collaboration from Kip Nelson, featuring an old friend of his Bira on the microphone. The duet in the chorus is intertwined with layers upon layers to unfold, while the verses pack a rustic bassline and some funk filled punch.
