When learnt this song for a friend's wedding, Robi Mitch liked this romantic song disguised as a happy song. Springsteen's manager challenged him to write a hit single because he wasn't getting the breakthrough he was looking for. He wrote this song about feeling like he wasn't going anywhere, it was his breakthrough. Robi had this catchy song in his head all summer and decided to do a "sad" version of it, going back to the story of the guy sitting in his room feeling like an imposter.
