Rapallo is Montreal singer-songwriter Nick Lanyon. The project features contributions from a rotating cast of Montreal musicians, including singer Kyla Kaplan-Chinard and pianist Isaac Maynes.
"Fine Living" is about a cycle of masochism and sedation: seeking pain as an antidote to numbness, and numbness as an antidote to pain. Cutting the song as a duet was a playful way to represent that dichotomy. I recorded most of the track in my bedroom studio, with vocal contributions from Kyla Kaplan-Chinard and Rhodes piano from Isaac Maynes.
